Birding in Winter at Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center, Sun. Nov. 22, 9 and 11 a.m.

The great southern migration is over, and the birds we see now are the resident birds that will stay through the winter. This program at Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center includes information about the resident birds, tips on how to keep them fed and healthy through the winter, and time spent birdwatching at the feeders and along the trails. We provide binoculars and field guides, although you’re welcome to bring your own. Stop by the nature store after the program to check out the sale prices on bird seed and bird feeders! $5.10 member / $6 nonmember. ( 9 – 11 am or 1 -3 pm).

Nature Fairies & Gnomes – Summer Celebration at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center Wednesday, August 26th at 10am

The Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center is offering a great new program throughout the year featuring Nature Fairies: “the champions of the earth!” Head over to the center on Wednesday (8/26) at 10am to hear stories about the Nature Fairies, make a creative craft, and create a fairy house outside! This program is great for kids ages 5-12 and there is a fee of $5.12 for members or $6 for nonmembers.

Bee Hotels Program at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center Sunday, August 9th at 1pm

Head out to the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center on Sunday (8/9) at 1pm to learn all about butterflies, bees, and other pollinators! Take a walk through the nature center and the meadow nearby to search for these insects, then create a “bee hotel” from natural resources found outside. This program is ideal for kids ages 6-16, and there is a fee of $8.50 for members or $10 for non-members. Buzz on over!

Sticks and Stones Program at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center Sunday, July 30th at 1pm

Head on over to the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center this Sunday (7/30) at 1pm for a fun afternoon program. Learn how to use natural resources to make a walking stick, a burn bowl, and a stone cairn. This program is great for kids ages 10-18. There is a fee of $10.20 for members or $12 for non-members.

Butterfly Brigade at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center Thursday, July 23rd at 1:30pm

Curious about butterflies? Bring you child to this drop off program at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center on Thursday, July 23rd at 1:30pm, where they will learn about the unique characteristics of butterflies, play games, make a craft project, and learn about butterflies in Connecticut. This program has a fee of $6.80 for members and $8 for non-members.

Family Fun Nights at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center every Tuesday this summer

New in town, or want to learn more about the animals that live in Connecticut? Join the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center every Tuesday this summer in this family event to explore the natural habitats and animals in the area. There will even be a campfire and marshmallows. This event is great for families with children of all ages. There is a fee of $25 per family (up to five people). Register for this program by calling the center at 860-536-1216 or on their website

Frog Frenzy at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center this Sunday at 2pm

Head over the the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center this Sunday, June 21st at 2pm to explore the world of amphibians! Walk around the nearby wetlands to search for amphibians such as salamanders, frogs, and toads. Make sure to wear boots and clothes you don’t mind getting muddy. There is a fee of $7 per person or child, but fathers and grandfathers can participate for free! Register for this event at the DNPC’s website or by calling the center at 860-536-1216.
