Autumnfest at Ansonia Nature Center, Sat Oct 17, 11-4

Celebrate fall at Ansonia Nature Center‘s Autumnfest! Ride over hill and dale in our horse-drawn “story” hay wagon, where you’ll hear some spooky Halloween tales!  Learn about bats, spiders and owls! Have some fresh-squeezed apple cider and fresh-made donuts, try pumpkin carving, get your face painted, and make some creative crafts. Proceeds benefit the Nature Center’s playground project. This event is rain or shine, and requires no park admission fee. For more information, call 203-736-1053.

 

Leaf Peeper Scavenger Hunt: Roaring Brook Nature Center, 10/12, 10-4

Looking for something to do on a lovely fall day during the height of leaf color? Drop in to the Roaring Brook Nature Center in Canton, CT between 10 am and 4 pm and head out on the trails for a fall scavenger hunt and special crafts. Apple cider and cookies will be provided. 
Scavenger hunt map will be sold in Nature Center Store for $2.00 plus admission to the Nature Center. 

No pre-registration needed.

Make Leaf Art at Goodwin Forest, Monday 10/12, 10 a.m.

2011-10-11_9979Autumn is the perfect time of year to collect wonderfully-colored leaves. At this Connecticut Forest & Park Association program, children can collect leaves at Goodwin Forest in Hampton, CT — and then use imagination, glue and paper to  make a stunning collage of animals, scenes, or even abstract colors to take home and frame!  All materials are provided; this program is free and recommended for ages 6 and above.
