Leaf and Bark Tee Shirt Art at Bauer Park, Sunday August 2nd

Show off your creative side this weekend! Using natural materials you’ll have the opportunity to make prints and dye your tee shirts, pillowcases, and other fabrics. Come by Bauer Park from 1-3pm on Sunday, August 2nd. There is a $5 fee per person, and all kids must be accompanied by an adult.

Back to Basics: Natural Dyes at the Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center Saturday, August 1st at 10am

Interested in how you can decorate clothes and fabric using only plants? Head out to the Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center Saturday, August 1st at 10am to join fiber artists Dawn Sotir and Jody Bishel in a fun lesson in naturally dying fibers. They will lead a short hike to identify plants that can be used for dyeing, then perform a demonstration. There is a fee of $8 per person, and be sure to pre-register by calling the center at (203) 736-1053.

Sticks and Stones Program at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center Sunday, July 30th at 1pm

Head on over to the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center this Sunday (7/30) at 1pm for a fun afternoon program. Learn how to use natural resources to make a walking stick, a burn bowl, and a stone cairn. This program is great for kids ages 10-18. There is a fee of $10.20 for members or $12 for non-members.

Full Blue Moon and Firefly Hike at the Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center Friday (7/31) at 7:30pm

Want to explore nature trails under the blue moon and search for insects that glow? Head out the Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center this Friday, July 31st at 7:30pm to join the park rangers on a nighttime walk around the trails in the park. The rangers will be looking for glowworms and fireflies. This event is for adults and children, and there is a $1 fee per person. Strap on your hiking boots, and be sure to pre-register by calling the center at 203-736-1053.

Float Your Boat in Bauer Park, Sunday July 26th

Compete in the Bauer Park Annual Boat Regatta! Come collect natural materials from around the park to build your own boat for the race. This event is recommended for children under 5, and all kids must be accompanied by an adult. This event is free, but be sure to register by calling 203-245-5623.

Butterfly Brigade at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center Thursday, July 23rd at 1:30pm

Curious about butterflies? Bring you child to this drop off program at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center on Thursday, July 23rd at 1:30pm, where they will learn about the unique characteristics of butterflies, play games, make a craft project, and learn about butterflies in Connecticut. This program has a fee of $6.80 for members and $8 for non-members.

Skull and Bones Program at the Goodwin Forest Conservation Education Center Sunday, July 19th at 2pm

Head out to the Goodwin Forest Conservation Education Center Sunday, July 19th from 2-4pm for a chance to learn about bones! Join Cheri Collins and learn how to identify bones found outside using Goodwin’s skull and bone collection as well as some of her own. Bring any bones you might have found for identification! This program is free for Friends of Goodwin Forest or CFPA Members, but has a fee for non-members of $3/person or $5/family.
