Looking for something to do on a lovely fall day during the height of leaf color? Drop in to the Roaring Brook Nature Center in Canton, CT between 10 am and 4 pm and head out on the trails for a fall scavenger hunt and special crafts. Apple cider and cookies will be provided. Scavenger hunt map will be sold in Nature Center Store for $2.00 plus admission to the Nature Center. No pre-registration needed.

The Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center is offering a great new program throughout the year featuring Nature Fairies: “the champions of the earth!” Head over to the center on Wednesday (8/26) at 10am to hear stories about the Nature Fairies, make a creative craft, and create a fairy house outside! This program is great for kids ages 5-12 and there is a fee of $5.12 for members or $6 for nonmembers.

Pequotsepos Hikers: Devil’s Hopyard State Park, Saturday 10/10 8:30 a.m.

Led by DPNC naturalists, the Pequotsepos Hiking Club meets twice a month, on a Tuesday and Saturday. This week, they head to Devil’s Hopyard, one of Connecticut’s most beautiful state parks, with a waterfall cascading into the eight Mile River, wooded ravines and beautiful views. At this Connecticut Forest & Park Association program, children can collect leaves at Goodwin Forest in Hampton, CT — and then use imagination, glue and paper to make a stunning collage of animals, scenes, or even abstract colors to take home and frame!
