“Afternoon Artists” every Friday at Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center

 

Drop off your 8-12 year olds for an afternoon exploration with art inspired by nature, every Friday from 3:30 to 6:00pm. Each session will involve hiking, observing, journaling and creating.  Opportunities to learn about specific artists and naturalists will be included.  This interdisciplinary class will be challenging, educational and fun! Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center is located in Mystic, CT. Sessions at 17$ for members and 20$ per non-members.

May 16th at Ansonia Nature Center: Bird Watching & Frog Catching

This Saturday, May 16th, Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center will be having two great events. In the morning there will be an 8am bird walk, with an introduction by avid birder Kathy Gambacini followed by an outdoor walk of the center’s lands.

Later in the afternoon, at 2pm there will be an exploration of the site’s Redwing Pond, complete with identification lessons and frog catching.

Daffodil Day at Wadsworth, April 26th

On Sunday, April 26th, The Wadsworth Mansion will be hosting Daffodil Day– An awesome event full of fun opportunities right here in Middletown! There will be trail walks, vernal pool explorations, kite flying, presentations on birds and reptiles, food trucks, a dog parade and other great family activities lasting from 1pm-4pm. There is no fee or registration required, and the event will happen rain or shine.

CFPA Frog Fridays at Highlawn Forest

The Connecticut Forest & Park Association is hosting Frog Fridays from now until mid June! Meet the site’s resident frogs, salamanders, fairy shrimp and more– just make sure to wear your best mud-proof attire! Frog Friday outings are free, but reservations are limited.
